I love beer and I really wanted this to be a great experience but sadly it was not.We got warned not to go in by patrons leaving as we arrived. Beceause it looked like the real deal we went in anyway. Although the food was ok, and the kids running the show there were doing their best to be grownups. There were problems. Number one, you go to a place like that to try a nice beer. It took about half an hour of pushing through a mine field of putrid beer before we gave up. The beer is undrinkable. It tastes like an ashtray has been tipped into the wheat beer, maybe a ciggy but or two into the other brewsboth us and other patrons were left bewildered, beerless. To the staffs credit they did try to sort out the beer issues, and didnt charge for the undrinkable beer. It was beyond a joke.So much potential there, I wont be going back... not unless Gordon Ramsay goes and sorts out that mess.
I hate rating negatively, but in this case you need to know. The pond at the back was lovely with ducks and local cockatoos drank water from the fountain at the front. Dunkel was sublime. "Here for beer" resonated with me. That's the positives. The music is a bit too much, it's okay for 20 minutes, then ugh. The waiter wasn't friendly nor accommodating. It's expensive! Now, the majority of people eating here aren't here for the chips and salad. So when I asked if they could possibly cater for vegan the answer was "salad". Everything else, mashed potatoes and mushroom sauce is made in butter, no negotiation. I eagerly awaited the salad which consisted of 4 kinds of lettuce, a bit of red onion, tiny olives, strips of capsicum and some tomatoes. It was huge but not cut to eat.My gripe is that the chef made his point. He thinks vegans only eat grass or something and will not deviate from his menu at any cost. Well, that's your choice. Mine is not to support nor recommend this restaurant to anyone else.My husband, non-vegan, also made a negative review. Places like this can change their business to be inclusive, if they choose. Perhaps the next person will have a better experience. You decide.
We were a group of 8 people and the waitress only served us 7 drinks (we didn't order any meals). We had to order the missing beer 2 times and gave up after a 20min waiting period (the restaurant was not busy). The "manager", which looked underage, came up with excuses and was annoyed about me complaining. Quit frankly, she was rude and unhelpful. The beer tasted like smoke (Ugh!!!), we couldn't even finish it, and behind us burned cables were hanging out of the wall. That was the first and last time we will ever visit this restaurant.
Bavarian Grill Haus was a wonderful find, especially as far out as it is from the Gold Coast. I lived in Germany for a short period and I can say that this restaurant is near completely authentic; portions are very large (light eaters may want to consider sharing an entree), food and sides were excellently prepared and served, and the beer was just as tapped in Germany. As well, the Grill Haus is located just across from a Mount Tambourine overlook, which make for nice views when your stuffed full. It was a little hard to get to due to the hours and the food will hit your wallet hard, but if passing through it's worth the stop in, even if just for a beer.
My daughter was married last weekend. The ceremony was lovely .And the chapel looked amazing. They staff had no clue. They asked if we would like to start a bar tab while my daughter was getting photos done. I said no beer and wine are included in the price. (very expensive price) the owner said it was the first time she heard of this. So we asked to see the contract. It includes a 5hour drink package. They had 1 bottle of champagne. The rest was still white wine. Beer on tap. They ran out of wine and started to use a cask wine that costs about $10.they ran out of vodka. Rum and ran out of the beer on tap 2 hours before it was finished and would not refill the keg. The food was OK but not worth the price. And the bridal table was placed near the bathroom. Overall we made the most of it. Beautiful location just need better management.
